| ALTAR
SERVERS - Altar servers assist the priest
at Mass and other services such as Stations of the
Cross, funerals and weddings. Young men or women
who are at least in the 4th grade and have received
their First Communion can apply to be an Altar Server.
Adult men and women who are fully initiated into
the Catholic church can also apply to be a server.
LECTORS -
Lectors (Readers) are those who proclaim the Word of
God at liturgical celebrations. Those wishing to become
a Reader is expected to attend a training workshop
before they are scheduled to read at Mass. Any adult
woman or man who is fully initiated into the Catholic
church can apply to be a Reader of the Word of God.
Special arrangements will be made for youth and children's
liturgies.
EUCHARISTIC
MINISTERS -
Eucharistic Ministers assist with the distribution
of Holy Communion at Eucharist celebrations and they
bring communion to the sick and shut-in. Candidates
for this ministry must be approved through the Bishop's
office. Any adult who is fully initiated into the
Catholic church can apply following their confirmation.
GREETERS -
Greeters are those who share the gift of hospitality.
They welcome people to our celebrations, hand out programs
when needed and help others feel comfortable by giving
them directions to restrooms, telephones, etc. Anyone
who is fully initiated into the Catholic church or
is in the process of being initiated can apply.
USHERS -
Ushers help in the ordering of the weekend services.
Their ministry includes helping people find seating,
directing traffic flow, taking care of the parish offering
and giving emergency aid and direction.
LAY
PRESIDERS - Lay Presiders are Eucharistic ministers
who have been trained to preside at Communion services
when a priest is not available to celebrate mass. Lay
Presiders conduct Communion Services at church and nursing
homes. Lay Presiders are appointed by the Pastor. |
