We encourage all
the faithful to reflect and act upon the traditional
Lenten practices of prayer, fasting or sacrifice and
works of charity.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and
abstinence, and all the Fridays of Lent are days
of abstinence. Those between 21 and 59 years of age
are obliged to fast, i.e., to limit themselves to
one full meal and two lighter meals in the course
of the day. Abstinence means that those 14 and older
are to refrain from eating meat. |
