THE LABYRINTH

The Labyrinth invites the whole body into prayer, it is not just sitting or standing in one place but the act of walking, the solemnly stepping forth - that brings a person into the experience of prayer and into God."

St. Augustine is quoted as saying "it is solved by walking." The labyrinth takes this quote to heart. In our fast paced world, often we do not take the time to slow down to enjoy the beauty that is so close to us. The labyrinth provides for those moments. The labyrinth is also a wonderful tool to discover our "God Center" and discovering God in our every day life.

Our outdoor labyrinth is sand blasted and acid etched on concrete. The design of the labyrinth comes from the labyrinth in the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France, which was completed in 1192. There are many places around the labyrinth to sit and meditate on life’s moment and events. "Only in the silence do you hear the voice of God."

We invite you to come and walk and pray the labyrinth, since it is outdoors, it is available as weather permits. An annual labyrinth event, the Hildegard of Bingen Retreat, is held the 3rd week-end in September.
